Speaking of Windows Update, since Microsoft started its Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA), which stops pirated copies of Windows XP from using Windows Update, there have been a number of hacks to get around it.

Before pressing 'Custom' or 'Express' buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter:

Simply delete "GWFSPidGen.dll"
Found under
%Systemroot%\system32
Copy text above and paste into "Run" Command.
#3 | .DLL Method |
Go here, replace the .dll file, done.
#4 | The "Add-On" Method |*These methods are in no particular order*
After Windows Update installs WGA go to
Tools > Manage Add-ons > Show Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer
After that scroll to the bottom and click "Windows Genuine Advantage" then click "Disable" and restart IE.
**I prefer the "Add-On" method myself**
There are also other methods that have been created, but these seem to be the easiest and the best.
